A message from the founder, "The story of 4thlete began with a loss — and a realization that too many athletes are left without guidance once the game ends. Years after moving to Europe to advance my own athletic career, I received a call that one of my former teammates had fallen into gang life and substance abuse, and ultimately lost his life. It broke me. I couldn’t stop thinking about what could have changed his path — what kind of support, mentorship, or structure might have reached him before it was too late. That it could have been me.
That moment changed everything. It reminded me that while sports teach discipline, teamwork, and resilience, they don’t always prepare us for what comes after. Many athletes lose access to the community, structure, and identity that once gave their days purpose. So I set out to build what didn’t exist for us back then — a place where athletes could continue growing, learning, and belonging long after the final whistle."
